“I create objects from materials that capture my eye, and that can be recycled materials or found objects. I make functional and sculptural and jewelry objects out of these materials that I collect. I try to take things that have had a past life and then give them a new life.”

“Time for me is a real metaphor, so I do make a lot of clocks, and I have a lot of measurement objects in them. Because time is a measurement, and of course tape measures and rulers and protractors — all that kind of stuff — to me is just the way we have chosen to decipher our need to organize our daily lives. It’s all about time.”

One of Chris Giffin’s clocks, entitled “Now and Then,” was on sale in a shop in Providence Rhode Island when George Harrison was visiting in 1997, a few months after the release of Beatles Anthology Volume 3. George purchased the clock and brought it home.

In 2022, George Harrison’s Widow, Olivia, decided to have a closer look at it.  “I put the clock on the mantelpiece – then the phone rang.  It was Paul, and he started to remind me of the third song with Real Love and Free as a Bird.  I said, ‘I remember it.’  He said, ‘It’s called Now and Then.’  I was standing there with the phone in one hand, looking at the clock that said Now and Then.  I was sort of dumbfounded.  I said, ‘I think this is George saying it’s OK.’”
